Watch your thoughts they become your words,

Watch your words they become your actions,

Watch your actions they become your habits,

Watch your habits they become your character,

Watch your character it becomes your destiny.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8 week course and is an excellent way to learn about mindfulness meditation. You will find the range of practices, the interaction within a group setting, and the cognitive exercises offered within the course, interesting and inspiring.
Meditation is simple, but it is not always easy, and the support of other people in the early days of learning is invaluable.

People who have been on the course have often reported the following benefits from mindfulness:

  • Improved ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term stressful situations
  • Increased ability to relax and experience calm
  • Greater energy and enthusiasm for life
  • Improved self-confidence and more acceptance of life as it is today.

Recently the popularity of mindfulness has grown. It is now offered throughout the UK in both the NHS and private sectors to people looking for support with the challenges that we face. MBSR is one of the core teaching programmes used worldwide.

Course Outline

The MBSR course was developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn.  It is an 8 week programme of 2 – 2.5 hour classes, consisting of mindfulness meditation, gentle movement sequences and cognitive exercises. There are opportunities during the classes to discuss and reflect on your experiences with me and your fellow participants.  The course is not a therapy session and there it has no religious content.

Participants are invited to carry out a daily mindfulness meditation practice of 30- 45 minutes in duration between classes guided by professionally recorded CDs.

The retreat day gives you an opportunity to extend your practice of meditation, part of the day will be held in silence. It is not a compulsory element of the course.

The cost includes 8 weekly sessions, course handbook, 3 practice CD’s and a retreat day. There are sometimes bursary places available and I offer a flexible payment structure so please do not let the financial implications of the course put you off being in touch with me.
