Lou Tice established The Pacific Institute (TPI) in the 1970’s. Through his experience of working with disadvantaged communities he founded a belief in people’s vast untapped potential.
He decided to create community programmes to try and unleash this potential. He took established psychological theories in human behaviour and made them accessible for everyone to use in their everyday lives.
The courses used widely today are:
Investment in Excellence (IIE) for use in business and for professionals
Steps to Excellence for Personal Success (STEPS) for parents and community groups
Breakthrough to Excellence for 16–20 year olds.
There is also teacher led
material available for use throughout the Key Stage Levels in education.
The courses are constantly monitored, revised and updated to keep in line with current psychological and sociological thinking. Over the years The Pacific
Institute has gained great respect from renowned psychologists and has helped communities, businesses, schools and various disadvantaged groups change their lives for the better. In 2003 alone 30 000 people in the UK took part in one of the TPI courses and made steps towards a brighter future.
