8 - Week Mindfulness Course

Booking essential
This course is based on the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) programme developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn and is an 8 week programme of 2 hour classes, consisting of mindfulness meditation, mindfulness movement and cognitive exercises. There are opportunities during the classes to discuss and reflect on your experiences with myself and your fellow participants. You are encouraged to develop your own daily practice at home during the course. There is a retreat day at towards the end of the course that you are invited to join.

Spring Term

Course 1

Date: Tuesday 17th January – Tuesday 13th March 2012
(excluding 14/02/2012 due to half term)

Course 2

Date: Wednesday 18th January – Wednesday 14th March 2012

• Venue: Wimborne Learning and Resource Centre
• Retreat day: Friday 2nd March or Saturday 3rd March

Monday Mindfulness Sessions

No advanced booking is required
These sessions are held every month and are designed to support you as you develop your meditation practice following the MBSR course. They provide an opportunity for you to meet up with your fellow course participants as well as meeting new friends who are interested in supporting their well-being through meditation. People are welcome to join these sessions even if they have not done the course – it provides an ideal way for you to find out more about the material. The evening will be structured to include a 30 – 40 minute meditation, an inspirational thought and time to socialise with one another.

 

Date: Monday 16th January, Monday 6th February, Monday 12th March, Monday 16th April, Monday 14th May

• Time: 1.00 – 3.00pm or 7.00 – 9.00pm
• Tea and cake will be available after the afternoon session.
• Cost: £5 per session
• Venue: Wimborne Learning and Resource Centre, BH21 1EF

 

Retreat Day

Booking essential
This will be an opportunity to come together to sit and to meditate – to take a few hours off the treadmill of our daily lives. The morning will include enquiry and gentle discussion following a range of meditations while the afternoon session will continue with meditation in silence. At 3.30pm we will gather to share our experience of the day together. There is also the opportunity to meet one another socially at the beginning and end of the day.

Mindfulness Forum

At the Forum in May it was agreed that at the moment any instructors keen to meet one another will do so at the Monday Meditation sessions already provided by Steps Ahead.
It was suggested that people may like to meet at 6pm before the meditation session starts at 7pm. I will be at the venue from 6pm onwards should you want to do this.

Inspirational Nudge

Many of you have requested that I send out regular email messages to inspire and support you. These will be developed for those of you on my data base during the coming months – at the moment I envisage them being bi-monthly. Please let me know if you do not want to be included in these – I know how email boxes can get saturated.
